  1. The accompanying files are for use with Amiga Wordperfect v4.1. They are
  2. intended soley for use by registered purchasers of said product.  No guarantees
  3. as to functionality are expressed or implied - if this blows up your printer
  4. don't tell me about it.

  6. Copy the enclosed files into your PRINT: assigned directory.
  7.  
  8. Upon purchase of my Deskjet I became rapidly unhappy with the Word Perfect
  9. Deskjet printer definition so I used Printdef to create the two enclosed.  The
  10. first allows you to switch among all the internal pitch sizes (5, 10, 16 & 20)
  11. in either draft or final and is named HP Deskjet Standard.  The second does
  12. the same for 6 point tall internal pitch sizes.  If you look in your manual
  13. you will find 6 point sizes are half the size of the default 12 points (imagine
  14. that!) and so they look a little scrunched with the larger pitch size.
  15. Examples can be found on page 7-10 of your HP Deskjet manual.

  17. These printer defs also turn off auto perforation skip which can cause
  18. complications.  It is useful to use a page length of 61 in Word Perfect
  19. while using these defs.  In addition, you may want to put all initialization
  20. codes on a blank first page (use control-enter to move text to page two) so
  21. that you don't get some extra line feeds on page one (I can't seem to get rid
  22. of them).

  24. To list the different pitch options, pull up print control and choose "display 
  25. printers".  This will list the fonts selection numbers (1 through 8) along with
  26. their corresonding definitions.  With these fresh in your mind get out of print
  27. control and go to "format" "print" "pitch/font" and enter the desired pitch 
  28. and font selection.

  30. These defs are also set up for different types of paper.  The default is bin
  31. #1 which is whatever the printer default is set to.  Bin #2 is Envelope feed
  32. for use when feeding #10 envelopes into your Deskjet.  Bin #3 sets up your
  33. printer for legal size paper.  Use "format" "print" "sheet feeder bin" to
  34. choose these.

  36. When using envelope feed the envelope must already be loaded into the friction
  37. rollers.  This does not mean fully loaded under the print head.
